Group rides

Weekday and weekend group rides: times, meeting points, and what to expect.

01 — Weekdays

Weekday rides

Tuesday and Thursday rides leave the Bryan Park pool parking lot at 5:45 PM, running until daylight savings time. The pace is rolling, and we regroup at the top of every climb and at every turn, so a strong rider can push the pace and a newer rider can dig in without getting dropped for good.

Weekend rides

Saturday and Sunday rides leave from the Sample Gates and cover 40–100+ miles at 18–20 mph. These are training rides: the pace is fast from the start, regroups are shorter and less frequent than on a weeknight, and the distance depends on who shows up and how the legs feel.

What to expect

Nobody rides off the front and leaves you behind for good. On weeknights we regroup at the top of every climb and every turn; weekend regroups are looser, so if you are new to group riding, start on a Tuesday or Thursday before you jump into a weekend ride.

Bring a helmet, a spare tube or two, a pump or CO2, and something to eat and drink — there is no support vehicle. Lights front and back are worth having if you might still be out near dusk.

The weeknight rides suit anyone with a road or gravel bike in good working order and the fitness to hold a moderate pace for an hour or two — that is the easiest way in. The weekend rides suit riders who are already training and want the miles and the speed.

Ride within yourself — we will wait for you at the top.

05 — Strava

Recent club rides

This is club 329602 on Strava, the same feed as the homepage but showing every individual ride instead of the weekly total. Scroll through and you will see who rode, how far, how fast, and on which routes — a running log of what the club has actually been doing, updated as soon as someone uploads.

Search “Bloomington Velo” on Strava, or follow the club page directly, to join. It takes one click and does not require riding with us first, so it is a good way to get a feel for the pace and the routes before you show up to a Tuesday ride — and once you are a member, your own rides count toward the club's mileage too.
